What is Lighting design?

It is important to be open to new ideas when working with lighting design. We should understand what should be accentuated, about the degree of contrast, quality of light, shadows and when to use coloured light.
Light is dynamic. It is not a static force and there are no rules as to how you can use it. By utilizing experience as well as always incorporating new ideas we can develop exciting and new solutions.

A lighting designer can not always know how to achieve the best result. And that is the charm of the profession. There are very few connections between the facts that can be measured and the visual experience. The artistic "instinct" is a lighting designers most important asset.
Darkness is an important factor in our work. It is not difficult to direct a spotlight towards an object, the difficult part is to plan for the dark parts. Darkness and shadows are important and difficult to predict. That is what makes the difference.

Knowledge is to understand how your eyes work, light, shadows, the technique, light sources, the experience and the feeling. Ideas and thoughts grow like colours on a palette.
