Fagerhult Retail offers a unique possibility to learn about the latest trends in lighting and at the same time enjoy and get inspired by the emotional photo exhibition Skies by James Newton. Light Emotion is the first of three events about the human aspects of retail lighting. During the year there will be further seminars on the topic focusing on visual and biological aspects.

  SKIES.
The relationship between man and light has always started in the natural world. The emotional and physiological effect that natural light has on us is one of the strongest influences in developing artificial lighting solutions. Skies is an exhibition of photography and moving images by James Newton. It is inspired by the landscape paintings of the Romantic Movement. A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art James has been employed by high profile lighting designers for over 10 years. His love of photography stemmed from a passion about how light interacts with its surrounding mat­erials and the power of photography to capture this. Light can reveal the form, space scale, colour and structure of a building and Newton is inspired by architecture that is created to both respond and be defined by light.
  THE LANGUAGE OF LIGHT.
The language and art of communicating concept must include and accept the emotional influence of light. Fagerhult retail is fluent in the language of concept design and has developed a tool to help simplify the communication. Our design tool was developed from a basic wish to fully understand what our clients want to achieve from their lighting. To do this we looked at transforming some of our specific terminology into groups of images which are more easily visualized. We then represent these groups using software and lighting techniques, exploring the possibilities and ideas. The design tool will not design you store lighting, but it will help us to understand how you want the space to look. We can do the rest for you.
  LIGHT EXPERIENCE CENTER.Light is something which affects all our senses. Understanding light is something we constantly strive to achieve, and to experience this quest Fagerhult retail has created the LEC, light experience centre, where we bring to life the theory and experience of electromagnetic radiation. This is two rooms where we invite you to sit and experience light. The experience room is where we show you what light is, how it can effect your perception and also how you appreciate shapes and details. The technical room also includes a number of visual effects to demonstrate in greater detail the technical characteristics of light sources and how these can be used to full effect in retail lighting.
 

TRUE COLOURS.
The world of LED’s (light emitting diodes) is a technology which is rapidly moving into the mainstream of lighting technology and becoming part of the portfolio of design options. Colour is a strong influence on emotion, and we demonstrate how we can work with this within our design using the very flexible LED technology. We have some ideas on how LED’s can be used to create excitement and interest, and the only way to communicate this is to come and experience these ideas.
