FLUORESCENT LAMP

Light occurs when a special luminescent material is ignited through a discharge. The new modern fluorescent lamps are called T5 (diameter 16mm). These are available in two models: HE (High Efficiency) which gives maximum luminous effi cacy and HO (High Output) which gives maximum luminous flux. The most effective T5 lamp (HE) gives a luminous effi cacy of over 100 lm/W (compared to an incandescent lamp's 12 lm/W). T5 is a full colour fluorescent lamp, which means it gives excellent colour rendering.
